Maxim Lifts Pathfinder Shuttle Replica at the Space and Rocket Center

Rocket transport operation using cranes to lift spacecraft for assembly and relocation.

Exciting times at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama! Maxim Crane had the honor of lifting the Pathfinder shuttle back onto its rocket boosters. Proud to be part of this iconic moment in space history!

My name is Micah Butler. I’m a sales rep here at Maxim Crane. I’ve been here for 6 years and in the crane business for about 16.

We lifted the Space Shuttle Pathfinder replica back up on top of the fuel tank and rocket boosters here at the Space and Rocket Center. So, this was a tandem lift made with two cranes. We had an LTM 1750 and an LTM 1400. The heavier end of the fuselage weighed 140,000 lbs and the lighter end weighed 77. So, we were able to utilize both of these cranes in the configuration with Wide Guys to make this lift.
