In September of 2012, Maxim Crane Works was honored to be given the opportunity to showcase our skill and professionalism when we were chosen to perform the lift of the Space Shuttle Endeavor. Maxim Crane Works was selected by NASAs contractor, The United Space Alliance, to be the sole crane service provider for the unloading of The Space Shuttle Endeavor at Los Angeles LAX Airport in preparation for transport to its final resting place, The California Science Center.
Maxim Crane Works fleet contained the specific makes and models of cranes on NASAs short-list of cranes approved to perform this type of lift. Maxim Crane Works also possessed the crane service professionals capable of successfully executing this sophisticated lift.
Maxim Crane Works provided a Demag CC2800 and a Liebherr LTM 1250-6.1 and a crew consisting of multiple operators, oilers, engineers, safety professionals and operational vice presidents to flawlessly complete this historic lift.
