Maxim Supports Blood Cancer United’s Student Visionaries Program

Approximately every three minutes, one person in the United States is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or melanoma, according to research by Blood Cancer United.

As a nationwide company and leader in our industry, Maxim has the power and the resources to support the fight against blood cancers. So, we are.

“When Maxim Crane decided to support my campaign this year, it was very impactful to me as I’m very passionate about this campaign,” exclaimed Taylor Rich, Student Visionaries Participant.

Maxim is proud to support the Student Visionaries of the Year program, which is a remarkable initiative that empowers young minds to make a difference in the fight against blood cancers. The program is run by Blood Cancer United and allows courageous young leaders to embark on an exciting 7-week journey to raise as many donations as possible to support blood cancer research, policy, and education. The students who earn the most donations earn the Student Visionaries of the Year title.

“When you’re looking at something as big as blood cancer,” said Hailey MacDougall, Student Visionaries Participant, “it feels like I could never do anything to help, no matter how hard I tried. This program made me realize that if you just do the best you can, every small effort makes such a difference.”

Not only is this a groundbreaking philanthropic leadership development program for high school students, but it also provides direct aid to people living with blood cancer. According to Derek Lynch, Patient and Community Outreach Manager, Blood Cancer United funded $153 million in copay assistance for patients in 2025 alone. These were funded directly through the Student Visionaries Program.

“When companies such as Maxim Crane partner with us,” said Lynch, “there’s a direct line between that partnership and money in patients’ pockets.”

“This cancer came as a curveball,” said Latoya Leary, a Blood Cancer United Patient. “We weren’t expecting it, and we weren’t prepared. Knowing that a company is out there to help you even though you weren’t prepared is amazing. Blood Cancer United really made a huge difference in my and my family’s lives.”

In March 2026, Maxim supported a group of students during the campaign, comprised of Taylor Rich, Hailey MacDougall, and Molly Papazian. Their gala was held on March 29th, 2026. In total, the 2026 Student Visionaries candidate class raised an incredible total of $843,000 for blood cancer patients in just seven weeks. The girls, led by Taylor, were able to raise the largest amount.

Maxim gave the team the opportunity to visit our Boston branch, where they toured the cranes in our fleet, spoke with professionals about different roles in the company, and learned how a crane pops up overnight. This marks the second year that Maxim has participated in this program, which we previously donated to in 2024.

Thank you to these phenomenal young people who are allowing us to make a real difference through our support of this program.
