Construction is a fantastic industry to build a career in. Just ask anyone on the Maxim team, and they’ll tell you as much.

That’s why we’re thrilled to celebrate Careers in Construction Month 2026. All October, we’ll be sharing stories from our employees and spreading the word about the great job opportunities available at Maxim. Make sure to follow us on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook to see all our content.

From office jobs such as billing and payroll to field positions like mechanical work and crane operation, there’s no limit to the career opportunities available in the construction industry. There truly is a place for everyone.

So, we talked with our very own professionals at Maxim about how they got their start in the industry and why they’ve stayed, so we can spread the word to a new generation of construction professionals.

If you’re new to the industry or considering joining, you won’t want to miss this. Here’s what our team had to say.

Q. How did you get your start in the construction industry? Why did you choose to build a career in construction?

Tyler Futch, Branch Manager – Savannah, GA

Maxim Crane Savannah Branch Manager, Tyler Futch

I started in January of 2018 in dispatch, and now I’m the Savannah branch manager. Back in September of 2024, our branch manager went to sales, so I stepped into the position. I’m still learning every day, but I’m willing to learn and put in the work. I think Maxim does a very good job of training their employees, whether it be through formal apprenticeship programs or just by learning from veterans on the job. They make sure that we’re all doing the proper steps and doing everything safely.

In this industry, particularly at Maxim, if you’re willing to put in the hard work and want to move into another position, whether it be dispatch, management, or something else, there are so many opportunities to move up.

Lisa Lawton, National Manager of Billing and A/R – Bensalem, PA

I started my career at Amquip Crane Rental and joined Maxim during the merger in 2016. When I first started about 13 years ago, I was hired as an Administrative Assistant to the VP of Operations at Amquip. Over my years at Maxim, I have worked in operations, payroll, billing, and accounting. Then, I became the Northeast Billing Manager and worked my way up to the National Billing and AR Manager.

I have chosen to build my career here at Maxim because I saw a great opportunity to take on new challenges and make an impact on the company. Everyone in the company has been wonderful, and I have made so many great relationships. I enjoy being challenged and improving processes to make everyone more successful.

I first started my career as a mechanic at Maxim, before becoming a truck driver, then an operator, a crawler technician, a service manager, and a regional service manager to get to where I am now, a fleet manager.

I love it because the pay is good, and I get to work with some of the best professionals in the business.

Dustin Stoner, Field Mechanic – Bensalem, PA

I’ve been here at Maxim for three years, but I started when I was 16 years old, working at a mom-and-pop shop. I got my start bouncing around between heavy equipment and pipeline work, and then I finally worked my way to cranes.

Doug Troop, Mechanic – Bensalem, PA

Before I retired, I was with Maxim for more than 37 years. I’ve done everything here except for office work. I drove trucks. I ran cranes. I was a mechanic. I welded. I built cranes. I moved them. I started right out of high school at 18 years old. I started with a mom-and-pop outfit, and it just got bigger and bigger over the years.
