Maxim Invites You to Rise With Us This Careers in Construction Month

October is Careers in Construction Month (CICM), a nationwide celebration of the rewarding and strong career pathways available in the construction trades. For us at Maxim, CICM is an annual opportunity to honor what we know to be true – that construction professionals are truly cut from a different cloth, and that a career in the trades opens doors like no other.

CICM helps to raise awareness for the staggering number of career pathways within the construction trades. In today’s rapidly changing world, where the job market continues to tighten, a career in the construction trades offers what many industries cannot: stable, in-demand, and highly rewarding careers.

What many people don’t realize is that there are infinite ways to have a career in construction. Within the building trades alone, there are more than thirty paths to choose from. All told, there are opportunities across a wide range of disciplines and skillsets, from administration and sales, to human resources and engineering, and much, much more. For every type of person or interest, there’s very likely a pathway that will lead to a long, rewarding career.

No matter if you’re interested in a career in the field or in an office, there is no shortage of opportunities for people from all walks of life.

“I’m excited for what the future holds for Maxim Crane, and adding a more diverse workforce to that growth is a huge initiative of mine and my team,” said Katie Allen, a Senior Recruiter at Maxim.

Her statement reflects a broader trend in the construction trades, which has seen an uptick in women and people from diverse backgrounds entering the construction industry. One of the appeals of a career in the construction industry is the opportunity to work alongside people united by a shared passion for building real, tangible things in a digital world that can often feel distant and impersonal.

Make no mistake, the construction industry has not been left behind by technology. In fact, it’s the opposite. Today’s leading construction companies embrace innovation and leverage advanced technologies to make systems and processes more efficient, and machines and equipment more capable and safer to operate than ever before.

“I feel like Maxim is far beyond any other company I’ve ever worked with when it comes to safety,” said Maxim crane operator, Andrew Powell. “Our entire crews are equipped with top-of-the-line harnesses to build the crane. Whatever it is we have to do, we have the safest and best equipment to do it with.”

Without a doubt, one of the most rewarding aspects of a career in the construction industry is seeing the physical fruits of your labor come to life. From state-of-the-art sports stadiums to iconic skyscrapers that redefine skylines, few things top the pride and satisfaction that comes from being able to say, “I helped build that.”

Careers in Construction Month is an opportunity for all of us in the construction trades to show others what a rewarding career in this fast-paced industry is all about.
