Safety

As the largest national crane rental and lifting services company, Maxim Crane Works L.P.  employs  the largest full-time staff dedicated to safety and risk management. Maxim Crane Works L.P. takes an approach to safety that illustrates the dynamics of loss control. A philosophy of zero accidents helps to form the foundation for a proactive approach to safety, which encompasses all levels of management from the Chief Executive Officer to craft personnel. The philosophy is simple — zero accidents is the only goal.

The emphasis of the zero accident approach is in the early identification of safety issues and planning. This allows Maxim Crane Works L.P. to enhance training, improve productivity, and control cost. Equally important facets of the program include a comprehensive drug and alcohol testing program, measurable goals supported through incentives and recognition, and a thorough accident investigation program to determine accident root causes in order to prevent future recurrences.

The MAXIM Safety Advantage

Maxim’s “Building Blocks to Safety & Health” Include:

  • Supervisor Training in Accident Reduction Techniques (“S.T.A.R.T”) program
  • Supervisor Training in Accident Reduction Techniques II (“S.T.A.R.T. II”) program
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health program
  • Zero Accident Techniques program
  • MAXIM Labor/Management Safety Committees
  • Craft Specific Training

MAXIM supervisors and safety professionals preplan each crane rental service with safety factors built into the process. There are four key preplanning safety tools:

  • Safety task assignment card
  • Job Data Sheets (JDS)
  • Job Hazard Analysis Form (JHA)
  • Risk Analysis Meeting

MAXIM has focused its efforts to the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), which has been formally recognized by OSHA. MAXIM has committed its efforts to ensure that each of our operators and oilers become CCO certified. The NCCCO program goals work toward improving:

  • Workplace safety
  • Reducing risk of loss
  • Reducing accidents by building skills & knowledge
  • Consistent training

Recent revisions to crane safety regulations have most crane companies scrambling to become compliant. At Maxim we hardly had to change a thing. For more information on the new crane regulations, contact your local Maxim crane branch.

MAXIM currently has over 95 percent of our crane operators certified by the NCCCO.

Along with the above mentioned programs and techniques, MAXIM employs one of the largest experienced and qualified safety staff in our industry.

The Maxim Safety Program has been recognized by the National Safety Council and the Governor of Pennsylvania (PennSafe Award) for its outstanding safety performance.
